As you can probably guess, my team and I spend a lot of time at the grocery store. And we’ve all been noticing that fresh berries are starting to come back in stock.

In my mind, fresh berries are a sure sign that the seasons are changing, even if it’s still sweatshirt weather here in Ohio. And while peak strawberry season won’t hit my region for a little while yet, I love making recipes that allow even pre-season berries to sing.

Friends, TikTok got me again.

You know by now how much I love scrolling through my FYP. It really knows me and seems to even guess what I’m craving based on the recipe videos it gives me.

A month or two ago it showed me a video of someone making apple crisp bars and I was immediately hungry. The next day I was in the kitchen fiddling with the recipe.

I think you’ll love these bars as much as you love the TikTok cinnamon rolls and my giant s’mores cookies. They’re perfect for any time of year, but especially right now, and would be a hit at Thanksgiving!

Or you can hole up and enjoy them on your own with an iced shaken espresso. I won’t judge you either way!

I feel like we’re pretty much stuck in an endless winter situation here in Ohio.

Yes, I know it’s only February. And yes, I also know that us midwesterners should be used to these dramatic weather changes, but it’s still annoying and I’m still going to whine about it.

Guys, it was 65 degrees 2 days ago and now we are expecting yet another winter storm.

One thing I do love about snow days is that Elle and I can get into the kitchen and whip up simple desserts that she can make almost entirely be herself.

These Cranberry Crumb Bars have been a holiday favorite of mine since I first posted them way back in 2010.

When I was deciding what recipes I wanted to share with you this year, these bars made it to the top of my list because they are absolutely delicious, but the photos and text definitely needed a little updating.

The sweet crumb topping pairs perfectly with the tart cranberries. The pop of orange and hint of cinnamon makes them a festive addition to any holiday celebration.

As I mentioned yesterday in my post for Frosted Ginger Cookies, it’s full-on holiday treat factory over here. And while I love baking our favorite Christmas cookies, I think bar desserts need a little love around the holidays too.

My gooey butter cookies are some of my favorites, so when the holiday season rolled around I knew I wanted to try a seasonal twist on this classic flavor.

And honestly, what food is more festive during the holidays than cranberries?

Dessert bars are great for the holidays because they are perfectly portioned and are easier to make than cookies.

These cake bars are similar to cranberry crumb bars and cranberry bliss bars, but have a wonderful sweetened cream cheese filling that balances the tart berries.

I used to count down the days until I could buy the Starbucks Cranberry Bliss Bar. But now I have my own recipe, and honestly, it’s even better!

Cranberry is such a wonderful flavor that deserves more attention all year long. I’m not complaining about it getting its due in winter, though.

The flavors in these cranberry bars are similar to another copycat recipe of mine, glazed orange scones, as well as my cranberry orange bread and cranberry orange cinnamon rolls.

What can I say, I love the combo of cranberry and orange!

This is probably the most “mom” statement ever, but here goes:

My girl is growing up way too fast. I can’t stand it. I feel like I’m going to blink and she’ll be driving.

Thankfully, she still does things that remind me that she’s still a little girl, at least for a bit longer. 

Like her excitement over eating apples she picked herself. The girl loves all apples, but gets SO excited when she’s picked them herself.
