]]>Ohio is clearly a little confused in terms of the weather right now. It was sunny and almost 50 degrees today which is a little disappointing considering Christmas is in 4 days and last year we were expecting a huge winter storm around this time.
What can I say? I’m all for a white Christmas.
Despite the warm and sunny weather, we’re checking off items on our holiday baking list one by one.
I’ve got all the ingredients for peanut butter blossoms, snowball cookies, gingerbread cookies, saltine toffee, peanut brittle and of course, rum balls.

]]>As soon as Thanksgiving is over, I start to think about the gift-giving season. Since we can’t get together in person with all of our family this year, I’m trying my very best to make sure I am ready with lots of homemade treats on hand to give to my loved ones.
Store-bought gifts are awesome, sure. (I’d never turn down some new candles from that smell-good place at the mall, after all!) But there’s something so lovely about giving your family homemade yummies.
Like these Turtle Cookie Balls. Let me just say that there’s something truly spectacular when chocolate, caramel, vanilla wafers, and pecans come together in one little morsel. And they’re SO easy to make!

]]>I know it’s only December 4th, but I am already getting the urge to start holiday baking. Only problem is, I don’t really have the freezer space at the moment to store much of anything. That thing is packed with butter, chicken and more mini ice cream sandwiches than I care to admit.
I am pretty obsessed with Peppermint Oreo Balls every holiday season. They’re super simple to make and can easily be adapted to fit your personal taste.
Don’t like peppermint? No problem. Simply use regular Oreos and omit the crushed peppermint, or use any other of your favorite flavors of Oreos. I have used regular Oreos, Mint, Peanut Butter and Peppermint Bark all with great results.

]]>As I’ve been saying for weeks, I’m all about easy recipes due to our upcoming move. If I’m being honest, no-bake recipe are even better. Especially when those recipes include lots of chocolate and adorably festive Valentine’s Day sprinkles.
Guys, we’re entering a scary time: it’s almost time to pack the kitchen. I’m pretty certain it will be the absolute worst. Take a normal kitchen and times it by like 100 because I have more glassware, dishes, flatware and linens than you can imagine. It’s a problem. A food blogger problem, but a problem nonetheless.
Armed with rolls of bubble wrap and what I’m hoping are enough boxes, I’m ready to conquer this task early next week. I’m seriously wishing there was a moving company that accepted cookies and cupcakes as a method of payment. But I checked, and it’s not a thing. Not even a dad and brother thing. Sigh.
Oreo Cookie Balls are always one of my go-to recipes for any occasion. Not only are they ridiculously simple, they’re also incredibly easy to customize for any holiday or special event. And they always seem to disappear from the dessert table in a flash – I mean who can resist poppable bites of candy covered Oreos? Certainly not this girl.
I originally planned to use the new Red Velvet Oreos in this recipe, but I can’t find them anywhere. I’m still on the hunt though because I want to use them in another recipe later this month.
Not to worry, Oreo has some non-seasonal cookies that work just as well. Have you tried the Berry Burst Ice Cream Oreos? Chocolate and sweet pink berry cream – gotta love that. They’re perfect here, and especially for Valentine’s day.
Covered in candy coating and adorable heart-shaped sprinkles, what’s not to love? You’ve got to make these Berry Oreo Cookie Balls, you guys. They’re so simple and perfect for sharing with everyone you love!

]]>If you follow MBA on Facebook, you know that I’m pretty much obsessed with all things chocolate-peppermint right now. From Dark Chocolate Candy Brownies and Crème de Menthe Stuffed Chocolate Cookies to Peppermint Kahlua Truffles – this girl has chocolate-peppermint issues.
Our candy dish is brimming with Hershey’s Candy Cane Kisses (yes, I totally bought that ginormous bag) and Ghiradelli Peppermint Bark Squares.
I could definitely take the easy way out and blame being pregnant or Eric, but I’m completely cool with being a peppermint candy hoarder. And truth be told, Eric’s not all that into the chocolate-peppermint combo – which means more for me (insert greedy laugh here)!
When the lovely folks at Oreo asked me to create a festive Oreo Cookie Ball recipe for the holidays, I knew exactly what to make. Obviously, I’ve been hoarding more than my share of peppermint-chocolate things, so I decided it was time to make something for everyone else to enjoy. Peppermint Kahlua Oreo Cookie Balls full of boozy goodness (which also ensures I wouldn’t be tempted to eat my weight in them).
They’re incredibly simple and full of peppermint flavor which makes them the perfect addition to any holiday party or cookie tray. I’m thinking Santa might totally dig these as well! Or your Secret Santa. Pretty much anyone that needs chocolate, peppermint, and a little boozy goodness in their holiday.
36 Oreo Cookies, finely crushed
1 package (8 ounce) brick cream cheese, softened
2 tablespoons Peppermint Mocha Kahlua, optional
1/2 cup finely chopped peppermint bark (I used Ghiradelli Peppermint Bark Squares)
16 ounces semi-sweet baking chocolate, melted
crushed candy canes for topping, optional
1. In the bowl of a food processor, pulse the Oreo cookies until finely crushed. Add in cream cheese and Peppermint Mocha Kahlua and pulse until combined.
2. Remove Oreo mixture to a medium bowl. Mix in finely chopped peppermint bark until evenly distributed.
3. Shape into 48 (1-inch) balls. Freeze balls for 10 minutes. Dip balls in melted chocolate; place in single layer in shallow waxed paper-lined pan. If desired, sprinkle with crushed candy. Refrigerate for 1 hour or until firm.
- Peppermint Oreo Balls are just as amazing without the Kahlua, so if you don't have any on hand, or you're not fond of alcohol, simply omit it.
